***I must disclose as a part of the Foodbuzz Tastemaker Program, I
received a free bag of these veggies in exchange for my post on
this product. But, the opinions are totally mine.
I must admit, I was kinda leary of the Asian flavored veggies I received. I'm typically not an Asian veggie person. Well, its not the veggies I don't like. Its the sauces. Flavorings. Something about them isn't yummy to me. They are too strong. Or they overpower the dish. Or maybe I haven't had much exposure to those flavors. I kinda grew up in a meat and potatoes family. We didn't do alot of world cuisine.
But, I wanted to give them a chance. And they totally surprised me. I was in love.
I was excited about the ingredient list. It was very short..full of things I can pronounce and NO weird ingredients! So, that was the first thing I noticed. The next thing was the little baby corn...I love those things. They are sweet and so flavorful.
In order to bring out the flavor, I wanted the veggies to shine. So I "blanded" up everything else. I just mixed it with brown rice and chicken strips that I cooked in olive oil, salt, and pepper and cut into bite sized pieces.
It was delicious. The flavor of the veggies permeated the dish in the best way possible. The veggies were crisp. The flavor was light and not too overpowering. It was a great dish!
The corn was everything I hoped for and more! Just such a sweet dish. It was a great healthy meal...a perfect way to just detox after a weekend of beer, chips/salsa, hot dogs...and too much candy corn. It is fall after all. ;)
These veggies would also be good as a side for a pasta dish, panini, or even mixed into a salad. I see numerous possibilities. They also have a southwestern corn frozen dish...personally that would be grrreat over nachos!
If you see these in the grocery store....please pick one up. You won't be disappointed. It makes ALOT! I was able to have dinner one night and then lunches for 2 days afterwards! With a salad, its such a fantastic meal!
Enjoy!
See ya'll soon~
